Janet bakes out of her kitchen in Jersey City, NJ. She studied literature, philosophy, and foreign languages in college, but shortly after graduating, moved to Seattle to blow glass. After quickly learning the medium and attending Pilchuck Glass School, she moved back home to New York and continued her glass pursuits at UrbanGlass in Brooklyn, NY. She transfers her knowledge  and experience of the properties  of heat, timing, artistry from glass blowing to baking. Janet’s better half is her husband Bob Gourley – web guru, pioneering author of the one of the first music zines Chaos Control, cake consultant, and the *sweetest* fan of her cakes.
