Pretty Paper Cakes
Wednesday, October 8th, 2008This is a diversion from my usual food-oriented entries, but it’s something I’ve been wanting to do. I’ve started a new category, “Pretty Products” that will feature non-food, cake-related products. I hope to make this a regular feature of this site. For my first pretty products post, I’ve decided to focus on paper!
Pop up card designer extraordinaire Robert Sabuda designed these cake note cards (left) available at the MOMA store. They’re $21.95 for 8 cards, available here. The elegant popup cards on the right are from an invitation suite available at Martha Stewart Crafts.

If you’re crafty and want to make your own cake cards, A Necessary Creativity has a tutorial on making some cute cards yourself (left). This has my creative juices flowing thinking of all the cake flavor possibilities! Woman’s Day also has a tutorial and templates on making these three dimensional paper cakes on the right. At first glance, I thought this was a real cake.

Cupcake wrappers have made their round on the internet, but I could resist posting these cake stand wrappers found here at Fancy Flours. The intricate lacy details will instantly dress up any cake creation. Check out the Halloween spider web wrapper below!

And check out these adorable cake favor boxes from Daisys and Dots’ Etsy Shop. It’s such a clever way to present favor boxes for a shower or other occasion, in either individual slices or as a whole cake.

And a paper cake post couldn’t be complete without featuring one of Cakespy’s adorable works of art, available on Etsy.
